Sum: Frequently Asked Questions

Functionality

What will happen if I spend past my spending goal?

Last updated July 26th, 2009

If you spend past your spending goal, Sum will begin telling you how much you can spend each day to avoid going into debt.

If you go into debt, Sum will tell you how much you need to earn to get out of debt before the end of the month.

If you do not earn that amount, Sum automatically deducts that amount from your next month's spending goal.

Do I have to obey the daily budget for this to work?

Last updated July 29th, 2009

No, not at all. Sum is especially helpful in times when you go over budget:

If you only spend $191.00 today, you will have
 $18.39 to spend each day.
 $128.74 to spend each week.
$478.17 to spend over the next 26 days.

Keep in mind that Sum is only a current picture of your finances.

The more you spend under budget, the higher you will see these numbers (and your savings) climb.
